Olivia DeJonge (Elvis) has been cast as the female lead in The Trashers, Cooper Raiff the newest film from Cha Cha Real Smooth filmmaker and Sundance Prize winner Cooper Raiff . She will appear with David Harbour and Cooper Hoffman.
The movie will focus on AJ, played by Hoffman, who is the adolescent son of Jimmy Galante, a Genovese crime family affiliate who owns a Connecticut trash company (Harbour). Galante hired A.J. to oversee the city’s minor-league hockey team after purchasing it in 2004. When A.J. played, the two became close because of their shared love of the game, and his dishonest father wanted to maintain that connection. The young player fared well, seeing his team become known for its rough and brutal style of play while also gaining a large following as it began to win more and more games. Galante’s arrest on 72 felony counts abruptly put a stop to the team’s achievements and notoriety. In the end, he was charged with cheating the United Hockey League and avoiding the harsh salary. cap by putting his players and their wives into no-show jobs through his waste management business.
A script by Adam R. Perlman (Billions) is directed by Raiff, who also wrote the most recent revisions. Producers include Andrew Morrison of Yellow Bear Films and Tom McNulty of MC2 Entertainment.
