According to James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” might be “the pinnacle of that saga.”

James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, said the third instalment will be “the end of that tale” in the brand-new, action-packed teaser that debuted yesterday (July 23).

In yesterday’s Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, when several new major projects for the MCU were announced, the official trailer made its premiere.

On the occasion, director James Gunn unveiled the trailer and declared that the third instalment marks the “end” to his Guardians of the Galaxy saga.

“The is the end of that narrative,” he said. I apologise. Some stories have a resolution. It doesn’t mean everybody passes away.

Gunn further affirmed that the third movie’s focus on Rocket’s origin story was a major factor in its completion and will play a significant role in its narrative.

“I had considered not doing the movie for a while. Then I returned here. And the reason I knew I wanted to come back was to finish telling this tale. In particular, because I’ve become particularly attached to the character of Rocket, I knew I wanted to finish telling his story,” Gunn told Entertainment Weekly.

“I knew that seeing who he may be and who he was, where he came from, and the thing that originally anchored me within the Guardians was what sent me on this trip… He is literally the saddest person or character in the universe, I realised, in order to tell the narrative. According to Gunn, Rocket.

The trailer can be soundtracked to The Flaming Lips’ track ‘Do You Understand.’

Actor Chris Pratt, who was also a panellist for the event, commented on that and how it related to the Guardian’s story: “It’s such a shifting [Flaming Lips] track, the imagery’s unimaginable, and clearly you’re instantly swept up not only in the concept that this is the conclusion of this trilogy for all of us, but you’re also reminded of the journey that the characters are on… It’s a narrative with a lot of heart.

On May 5, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 will be released.
